We were walking from the WIC office in Union City when I saw this family of wild ducks (papan) resting beside a fountain. When I was in the Philippines, it was very rare for me to see this kind of creature. We hunted them to near extinction and here they are just sitting near the BART station. Kung sa atin ito, may paglalagyan yan. Adobong papan?

England's Bomb
i met england hidalgo at the pacific bridge gallery (oakland, ca) during santiago bose's and carlos villa's workshop. that was 6 years ago. he was the only pinoy visual artist who, like me, attended santiago's manong workshop religiously. we did an installation with santiago outside the gallery where we burned everything afterwards to symbolize our sympathy to the manongs. england is also part of the punk band eskapo and dilubyo based in vallejo. we exhibited together a lot of times and we even started an art group called 'agunyas.'
he asked me to cover up one of his old tattoos that he did on himself. ofcourse i obliged and was so happy that he let me tattoo on him. his is my third tattoo. the outlines are shakey but i think i did justice on the finished art. the tattoo is black only image of a world war 2 bomb. someone asked him why a 'bomb.' i told england to answer... cause he's da bomb :-)
salamat england!
